a quiet word on data —

Privacy, in plain language.

A small notebook is no place for opaque legal fog. Here's what happens when you visit.

Last updated: April 12, 2026

This is a small, mostly-quiet personal blog. I'm not running an analytics empire and I have no interest in collecting more about you than I need to. This page explains, in plain English, what gets gathered when you read here and what doesn't.

What this site collects

When you visit Slow Life Notebook, my hosting provider's server logs record routine technical information — things like your approximate region, the browser you're using, the page you arrived from, and the time of your visit. This is standard for almost every website on the internet, and the data is used only to keep the site running and to understand, in aggregate, what people are reading.

I do not run my own user accounts, comment system, or contact forms that store your information on this site. If you write to me at hello@slowlifenotebook.com, your email lives in my mailbox and nowhere else. I won't add you to anything you didn't ask to be added to.

Cookies and analytics

This site may use lightweight analytics to count visits and understand which posts people are reading. Any analytics service used is configured to respect privacy — IP addresses are anonymized where the tool allows it, and no personal profiles are built. I don't sell or share visitor data with anyone.

Cookies are small files some sites store in your browser. This site uses only the cookies necessary for basic functioning and, where applicable, for the lightweight analytics described above. Your browser settings let you block cookies entirely if you prefer; the site will still work.

Advertising and third-party services

If advertising appears on this site in the future, it may be served by third-party providers such as Google AdSense. Those providers may use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices.

Third-party services I link out to — newsletter platforms, book retailers, the small businesses I occasionally recommend — have their own privacy policies. When you click a link and leave this site, you're operating under the destination's terms, not mine.

Affiliate links

A small number of posts contain affiliate links — meaning if you click through and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links are clearly disclosed where they appear. For a fuller statement on this, see the disclaimer page.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect any information from them. If you believe a child has somehow provided information through this site, please write to me and I'll handle it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data this site holds about you. In practice, that's almost nothing — but if you'd like to make such a request, write to hello@slowlifenotebook.com and I'll respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes meaningfully, I'll update the date at the top of this page. Quietly, but visibly. Substantial changes will be noted at the top of the page for a while.

The short version: I run a small reading-and-writing blog. I'm not in the data business. If you ever have a question, write to me directly.

Questions about anything on this page can be sent to hello@slowlifenotebook.com.
